Overview

The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for managing all Transmittals, Submittals, RFI’s, Change Requests and Work Breakdown Structures (WBSs); In addition, they will manage project specific material scheduling from design to manufacturing through installation to closeout. The ideal candidate must be able to work effectively in a fast paced team environment on multiple projects, have strong communication skills, computer skills and a basic knowledge of electrical systems and their components. The position may be executed in an office, shop or jobsite environment.

 



Qualifications

Include, but are not limited to the following:

  • A minimum of 2 years construction experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of electrical field experience is HIGHLY PREFERRED
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Undergraduate degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field is preferred
  • Knowledge of base principles of scheduling, project management for construction, electric materials and manufacturing are a plus
  • Prior experience at the Assistant Project Manager level or above including design/build construction work activities preferred
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Email, Technical Writing and Scheduling software)
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret project drawings and schedules

Responsibilities

Include, but are not limited to the following: 

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist Project Managers and Field Engineers in managing projects, subcontracts, suppliers and inspectors to meet construction deadlines and client expectations

  • Maintain constant and effective communications with team members, internal/external customers and vendors

  • Facilitate weekly project specific meetings with internal stakeholders and customers; maintaining accurate minutes including notes and action items

  • Coordinate material work packages internally with Design, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Project Team and Field Services to meet the project schedule

  • Create and maintain project delivery schedules

  • Prepare and distribute Site Address maps for delivery coordination

  • Communicate to all project stakeholders delivery date changes and any potential material issues

  • Intake issues from Field Engineers and Project Managers and input into issue log

  • Upkeep project: change request log, submittal log, unplanned material log, issues log and lessons learned log

  • Prepare change requests and coordinate change scope, schedule and cost with customer

  • Prepare, maintain, coordinate and distribute all project specific documents (transmittals, submittals, RFI’s, change requests, drawings and closeout documents) to project stakeholders and team members for use

  • Maintain project file database and file folders

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Assist Project Manager in: reviewing design document plans, specifications, estimates, schedules, preparing reports, budgeting and accounting practices
  • Develop professional documents, edit documents and develop proofs
