The Production Manager is responsible for prioritizing, planning and completion of production orders to satisfy demand requirements. Supports the Quality Management System (QMS).  The ideal candidate will manage day-to-day activities ensuring safe production of quality products.  The Production Manager will operate out of the manufacturing facility.



Qualifications include, but are not limited to the following:

  • 5+ years working experience in Manufacturing environment
  • Must have good understanding of manufacturing procedures and practices
  • Experience with lean manufacturing
  • Process and detail oriented
  • Understanding of labor budgets, KPI’s, and efficiency reporting
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to coach and mentor
  • Microsoft AX 2012 experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Continuously stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms above shoulder height; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear.
  • Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach with hands and arms at waist level and below the waist; and work in limited space.



Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversee day to day production activities ensuring on time completion
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineer to improve manufacturing process and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.
  • Provide input on manufacturing work instructions and SOP’s
  • Manage manpower and resource planning for all work cells collaborating with Supervisors and Leads to forecast labor needs and develop ramp up/down schedules for Human Resources and Temp Agencies.
  • Maintains quality while enforcing organization standards; random daily inspection of workmanship offering coaching and training when needed.
  • Collaborate with Supervisors setting daily output standards and measuring achievements. 
  • Monitor and measure productivity and accuracy of time reporting
  • Monitor and measure work flow and quality
  • Ensure all production order documents are accurate and complete
  • Ensure labor efficiency is meeting budget; report to key stakeholders.  If budget is not met, work with Planning Team on route times and/or Supervisors on actual route times.  Determine deficiencies and correct where applicable.
  • Manages staff by orienting, evaluating and training employees keeping with ISO 9001 standards
  • Seek to improve existing standards and procedures to support continuous improvement within the department in support of the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Ensure training is completed as required and is up to date.  Update training matrix with employee changes to ensure accuracy.
  • Ensures equipment and tools are in safe and operating status.  Ensures issues are addressed and corrected in a timely manner
  • Review planning production orders and “start dates” in ERP and reschedule if applicable.
  • Release production orders to enable build packets to be created.
  • Collaborate with SCM on pick list priorities. 
  • Daily floor request for materials, validate requests and create Pick List Journals as needed. 
  • Manage WIP inventory locations, accuracy, and accounting.
  • Analyze excess assemblies and determine disposition.
  • Manage Production Supervisors by providing guidance, training and corrective action as necessary
  • 7S compliance
  • Maintain a culture of safety
  • Other duties as assigned
